ACS waiting times

I ordered in late October with the safety release. When I was asked for the second half of the payment, it was "Early February" shipping. On March first, I asked for an update and got "next week". In the silver lining department, I'm having to severely limit my coffee intake for health reasons, so i...

Dave, What is pre-charging? I've heard this term a few times, but don't know how it is achieved. Matt

ACS waiting times

Yes, safety lever ordered. Would happily abandon the safety at this point and become one of the "No problem if you use it properly..." people. If it's this hard to get right, it might be more trouble than it's worth down the road

ACS Vesuvius Leva - pump works every 4 seconds

Terrible idea: If the problem goes away when you measure the voltage, what happens if you put a high Ohm resistor across those terminals?

The best reason for a delay. Some time spent now making the machine better and longer-lived is a good tradeoff

ACS waiting times

I don't mind delays. I am a bit miffed at my March 1 "Yours is shipping next week" which is perfect for getting you sit quietly and not get frustrated for another three weeks at least. Well, it's four weeks without a word. I understand that this is how it works, and as much as I would appreciate hon...

Continuing difficulties in diagnosis

I get stuck in ruts. The best advice I've gotten is to make a large change and try refining from there. For instance, try 16g in a smaller basket. Try very different grinds and for each grind, different outputs to balance sour and bitter. The coffee universe keeps discovering new zones of parameters...

Lever Position on Manual vs. Spring

I tried that argument with my wife. It didn't work. (And while I am a descriptivist and believe that language is fluid and that there are no rules for grammar, I am saddened that "utilize" has become a synonym for "use" and has lost its meaning of "unusual or unintended usage". You use a washing mac...

Lever Position on Manual vs. Spring

A spring lever is relaxed when the lever is vertical. Energy is added to the spring by pulling the lever down, lifting the piston. Water then enters the chamber, and the lever rises as the spring releases its tension and forces water through the puck. I'm told that one can change the pressure profil...
