And sometimes you have to updose
I've tried the down-dose circuit as well. Agreed, it seems best (but not entirely) suited for SO's. Otherwise as simplistic as it may sound, I've gone back to more or less sticking with the roaster's recommendations for my dose/temp profiles for their blend. For instance, this is from PT's site for ...

Is there a way to set up the machine to maximize microfoam?
Sounds like you're just about "there". Re-read the prior post twice (by Malachi), he placed a ton of technique all within a few sentences- When I first joined HB a few years ago, most of what he stated there would have gone right over my head... The only other tidbit I'd toss out is steaming on an

Elektra Nino Grinder
Theodore: I don't think the Nino has seen much use in the US market yet, although as mentioned above it now appears on the 1st Line site. OK +/- a few mm: my Robur measures 470 mm tall without the hopper. Personally I wouldn't use it without the hopper though. First, you'll have to overcome

Got my new Elektra T1.
Congrats Joe! Very nice! A3 guy here with a few random thoughts for you: I initially removed the PF extensions (FWIW, mine were on pretty tight. I ended up using a padded vise to get them off...) After a while I moved to a bottomless PF (Rancilio) and now use the "stock" PF with a

Cleaning brushed stainless steel
I think it depends on what/where you're trying to clean. For smudges, splatters and fingerprints on the outside case of my machine, as above, Windex and a soft rag works fine. For baked on espresso gunk, I'll soak the part in espresso machine cleaner for a few hours or even overnight. If I'm trying ...

Availability of 5lb Bags or Volume Discounts.
This week I've been drinking Coffee Emergency's Code Brown: {link} A 5 lb. bag is $49.95 plus USPS priority shipping which to my west coast locale brought the total to $61 and change. The nice thing about USPS priority mail is "the goods" make it to my doorstep three days post roast- a couple of day...

Elektra Nino Grinder
Also off topic but back to Shadowfax so apologies in advance guys- No, that would be more like my Major. It can rip through a pound of espresso in a few blinks of the eye it seems so you have to be on your toes when grinding for a single shot with it... The conicals are low

Elektra Nino Grinder
I don't know, typically the price point is about the same regardless of which voltage ilk a grinder is... Perhaps Elektra didn't anticipate that there would be "crazies" in the world like us who would actually use such beasts in a home enviroment? For commercial app.'s, a 220 V grinder would fit rig...

Elektra Nino Grinder
Aside from this the link states: 220 VOLTS ONLY Hmmm, maybe I'll wait for the 110 V version

Why the 12oz packaging and not 1lb?
Thanks Jeff. I must have missed it!
