Current Ethiopians at Sweet Maria's

I've been drinking the Keramo as well (roasted with an aggressive fast/light profile). Very fragrant and perfume-like, sweet, big floral/berry notes, definitely recommended. The Bombe also looks interesting, and I'll undoubtedly grab some of that as well. I can't help but feel particularly susceptib...

Greens Alert

It seemed like quite a lot of moderately-priced geshas ($10-20/lb) have been showing up at resellers over the past year or so. I've nabbed a pound or two of many of them, but I've yet to feel they were worth the price tag. The last gesha I was really wowed by was the 2018 crop of "this coffee", thou...

Greens Alert

I'm cautious to share the specific profile, as I recently jumped to a new roaster and I still don't fully understand some of its finer points (notably: infrared BT vs. BT probe measurements, which ones I should be paying attention to and when). But for this coffee I ended up going with a light/fast ...

This coffee is wild! Super sweet, when it cooled to just above room temp it tasted practically like a mug of pineapple/mango juice

Light Roasts on the Bullet R1

Recently acquired a Bullet, rather impulsively, but really having fun with it thus far. Initial roasts went well, I used some of the profiles posted in this thread as a rough template. Here's a rather aggressive light roast of a natural Eth that I'm drinking this morning: {link}. There's always room...

completely agree with this, the hangadhi is the berry-bombiest ethiopian I've had in awhile. I was starting to wonder if it was the crops themselves this year, or if the hyper-fruity stuff just wasn't percolating down to resellers (i.e. was being nabbed from importers by cafes or larger accounts)

Differences between Kalita Wave and Hario V60

According to some "poorly executed experiments", kalitas purportedly yield fruitier sweeter cups, while v60 is more citrus and berry forward. Among the backlash to that work was the suggestion that if they properly dialed in each method then observed differences might very well have disappeared. I'v...

Colombia Honey Process Buenos Aires Gesha

Drinking this now 48hr post-roast as a v60 (vario, melodrip, tww). Up front: a savory funk, not unlike certain kenyans. clean, quite sweet As it cools: lots of flavors here. a pronounced wine-like berry note (I see everyone saying lychee but I don't know what that tastes like so maybe that's more ac...

Colombia Honey Process Buenos Aires Gesha

Roasted a batch of this earlier today with a default profile: ~9:30 total, 20% dev, dropped at 1C+15°F It did roast up very nicely, with a vigorous first crack and very even coloration. Looking forward tasting it (and reading other's notes about it here)
