Plumbed in espresso machines - driptray drain reports?

I've had my machine plumbed in and out for over 10 years. Never had even a slight problem. The exit from the drip tray into the pipework is through three 5mm holes, so nothing larger than that can go down, but normal grounds are no problem. I wouldn't suggest using it as a knock box though !

Steam issue of Reneka Techno.

Hello, Theodore. I'm not sure if this is the same issue with your machine, but sometimes mine makes a lot of noise when the steam boiler starts up. You will know that these machines do not have a vacuum breaker. Instead, when the steam boiler is energised, the valve on the steam wand opens very brie...

Filling Espresso Machine Water Tank Under Cabinets

In the bad old days before I had a plumbed machine - a small hole drilled in the base of the cupboard just wide enough to fit a funnel

58mm espresso machine with flowmeter?

Is 58mm essential because you already have 58mm baskets and portafilters, or some other reason ? My machine is nominally 57mm (with a stack of different capacity baskets to fit it) but a 58mm tamper works fine. In real life use with it, you cannot tell the 1mm difference

Just ordered a Technivorm Moccamaster

Glad you're happy with it. 500ml is my routine breakfast brew (to 30gm coffee) Works fine to my taste. At that time in the morning it's nice just to pour in the water, grind the coffee and fill the filter, then switch it on and let it do its stuff uninterrupted. Not in the mood to mess

Just ordered a Technivorm Moccamaster

Well, they brew at the right temperature and at the right speed, so that probably helps a lot. Anyway, glad you're pleased with it - should last you a lifetime with a bit of care - well made with quality components, and they're more or less hand made, so can be taken apart and repaired if ever neces...

Just ordered a Technivorm Moccamaster

Just let it do its stuff. Personally I never stir the grounds, but many do. If you're concerned to get the water to come out of all of the holes, keep the drip bar clean, and occasionally rub it with a tiny amount of oil to stop the surface tension making the water coming from the holes form into

To plumb in or not to plumb in!!!

Agree completely, and the option of being able to use the driptray as a small sink to get rid of small amounts of water is an often overlooked bonus. Mine is plumbed in and out as it has to be - there's no tank option and the drip tray has has to be plumbed. I installed one of

Suggestions on plumbed in machine w/ focus on espresso

In my experience (both plumbed in and out) a sink is a nice to have perhaps, but not a necessity provided you have a knock box and the pucks are fairly solid. I knock the puck out, and then swill the small amount of remaining grounds into the drip tray, and flush it away. OK - mine is ultimately con...
