Monolith Flat vs. Conical
I sold my flat and kept the conical simply because I was drinking more espresso and/or latte than drip and I preferred the mouthfeel of the conical over that of the flat. For my preference then, the clarity of the flat was too "honest". The imperfection of a roast batch was more pronounced for my pa...

I can not answer all of OPs questions but I do have 4 Spongs, only the Spong No. 0 has a black 'interior'. I can share that one of my personal favorite espresso came from a Spong. Have fun with yours

Molar X Grinder from Taiwan
Hose clamp locking isn't really something new. Thumbscrew would not be ideal for sleepy mornings as many a Monolith owner can testify. Integrated spring tension locking on Helor 102, the self locking on the latest batch of Monolith or EK43 are to me the most user friendly

Monolith Pre-orders 8/10 - Who's getting one?
Difference in the cup is noticible between Mazzer 187C and Itamill 83mm Conical in an Helor 102. HG-1, Helor 102 and the latest Stance are all great grinders but the effort and dedication Denis made to test, season, taste, and measure (EY) prior to shipping a unit out make it a grinder of its own cl...

Monolith Pre-orders 8/10 - Who's getting one?
I owned both the Conical and the Flat for roughly 9 months before selling the Flat because I was using the Monolith Twins primarily for milk drinks and espresso and I preferred the thicker mouthfeel of a traditional espresso from a conical burr. I enjoyed the reliable service of the Conical for anot...

Monolith portafilter forks and unbalanced portafilters
My Pringle's lid has evolved from clear plastic to blind filter to another black plastic lid of a can of mixed nuts. Still not something fancy but a better match for the color scheme. {image} {image} {image} Another precautionary measure I took after too many sleepy mornings. Red means stop, no? {im...

Cleaning the Kafatek Monolith Conical
Well, the last time I cleaned my MC was after a full YEAR of nearly daily use. There really wasn't much there. Although this might not sound appealing to some, I dont see the need to take the top plate off to clean a MC unless you drink mostly oily beans. Daily use is the best cleaning

Fuji Royal R-220 and Kalita Next G grinder
Next G and R-220s are all competent grinders for V60, Franch press or Aeropress... They should produce very good results. I suspect that your particular Kalita the culprit if it is not handling V60 grinds well when it should. Do you have a picture of the grinds from your Kalita Next G, preferably wi...
