How low can you go?
Happy New Year all! Been a long while, but catching up, I was inspired by the recent 'Wow' thread"What's WOWing you right now (coffees, roasters)", I thought I'd start another 'bang-for-the-buck thread'. I resonated with gingi 's comment of having been a while since being 'wow'd'. Visiting my family...

Plumbing Profitec 800
I don't remember what the specs are on the remineralizer of that ispring unit. I've been using a brita to fill my machine for years, but am tired of doing so and that's why I wanted to plum in, but also wanted to make sure I was getting some of the calcium out of the water to reduce scaling

Any recommendations for pour-over coffee machines?
Sorry - not meaning to hijack... I know you're looking for a pour over, I'm looking for a good dripper - in principle, it's the same When I originally started coffeedom, life was much simpler and I could spend a lot of time making all kinds of fancy whatevers - now, with three kids to

Profitec 800 squeaky steam wand
I have a squeaky steam wand on my Profitec 800 lever - I imagine it would have a similar construction to my old ECM giotto. Would some generic food grade greasy be ok (I'm using Haynes Lubri-Film Plus) on the seals inside (assuming there's also those little silicone o-rings on the steam shaft)? Wasn...

After RO water
Is there a TDS gauge that you all like to measure your water? I just descaled my Pro800 for the first time and got some scale sediment and blue water flushed out so think I need to be a little more careful about my water sources

After RO water
Thanks Pat, I'll check those out. Even after a couple of weeks with a too-old brita filter, there was scaling in my Zojirushi pot at my office, so I was assuming my profitec machine at home must have some serious build up by now

After RO water
I'm thinking about plumbing in my lever machine and was looking at this ro / remineralizer off of amazon, the "iSpring RCC7AK". Any thoughts?
