Are ultrasonic cleaner solutions food safe?

I hope so! It is how I use to clean my harmonica combs. You can check the ingredients, and many cleaners will work, but make sure that they state low-suds action or it will look like it snowed on your counter

In Memorium - A Tribute to Madeleine Page- 20 years ago today

Back in the glorious days of alt.coffee on Usenet, there was a core group of participants. Madeleine Page was like the group's 'English Nanny' keeping the kids in line. On December 15, 2003, her bright light was taken from us at the far-too-young age of 58. Below is a portion of the tribute I wrote ...

Olympia Cremina - dented boiler

Insurance is almost always a waste of money. If that machine was not double boxed then the claim would very most likely be declined anyway. Remove the boiler and its attachments and get to a metal working shop. I pretty sure that the damage can be repaired and the boiler pressure tested. Talk to the...

Replacement/upgrade for the brain box in an E61 HX

uhhh.. WOW! This has a greater potential of changing the espresso machine industry than the PIDs we enthusiasts were installing in Silvias around 20 years ago. Add bluetooth connectivity and the ability to program and monitor and a gear pump creates an affordable machine to rival the Decent (and

Surprised To Find Friend or Family on Home-barista?

Sort of the opposite.. I use the same name at work (roaster technical support) and once in a while I get messages like, "Are you the same Randy G. as on Home Barista.." as well as mentions of thanks for my website. With only one or two exceptions (from memory) in twenty three years in this hobby/ind...

Rancilio Silvia: How to empty the boiler on a broken machine?

I seem to remember that you can disconnect the heating element, turn on the brew function, open the steam and apply low pressure compressed air (NOT aerosol duster) into the steam wand. Or remove the pressure relief valve and turn the machine upside down when it is UNPLUGGED from the outlet
