Does cup temperature affect espresso taste?
perhaps I should clarify. I wasn't suggesting that catching a pour in a room temperature demitasse would be as shocking as over ice, I was merely trying to prove a point. You are correct in saying it tastes flat, thats more where I was trying to go with that, didn't mean to over-exaggerate

basically yes. it is the same sort of principle as dumping a hot espresso shot over ice, it just has a shocked taste. Mark Prince has ranted about this on various different occasions, none of which i can directly quote. Besides, a cold cup also tends to cool the espresso a lot more than a nice, hot,...

Lower pressure brewing
lots of tiger flecking in the cup, the shot looked pretty good. on a side note, i do have to comment on how abnormally ristretto that shot was for a double basket, it appears to be < 1oz? how do the two taste profiles compare, 7bar vs standard 9ish bar?

wahooo, thanks TCF. now if only everyone was this interested. I have found, for mostly girls anyway, if you can help them pour latte art (hearts especially) then they are proud to serve their drink they have built. I guess this should go for anyone. Espresso should be culinary, and it IS a respectab...
