Elusive coffee tastes - ready to give up!

I wholeheartedly agree with the book excerpt. I am much more successful describing a wine, beer or coffee to my friends by using comparisons to tastes we already know. They immediately know what I mean and it is useful to them in making a decision

Can wet aroma be a guide to proper extraction?

I tried the idea with an Aeropress. I had a hard time distinguishing changes in aroma over time. I wonder if the small amount of water relative to the amount of coffee diminishes the effect. I'll be switching to a different blend soon and will try again
