EK43 new style burrs vs SSP HU vs grinder or burr size downgrade

Oh word. I misunderstood. Yeah HU going to definitely be better for light roast. Assuming you have the current EK dial, I expect the sweet spot will still be something like one half of a number range across different coffees. Off topic, but an easier solution might be a different basket, e.g. one of...

EK43 new style burrs vs SSP HU vs grinder or burr size downgrade

I'm not sure I'm 100% following what you want, but if you want burrs that are "better" for medium or dark roasts, I think the SSP HU are going to be further in the wrong direction compared to stock EK burrs. I have both and found the HU to be a bit of a weird burr in terms of high

[SOLD] Olympia Cremina w/ Pressure Kit (Washington DC)

Selling an Olympia Cremina, purchased from Cerini in July of 2022. Machine is running great and no issues with it. Cosmetic condition is also very good, with a couple light scratches, but you need to be looking pretty hard for them. Comes with various upgrades/extras: * Gabor/Naked Portafilter Press...

98mm SSP cast burrs for espresso

I suspect the ssp cast will be sweet enough for you. I find them sweet (although this is probably the most subjective of all qualities). FWIW I had an 804 lab sweet for a few months are didn't care for it. Seemed very hard to dial in. Messy. Overall just very clunky

98mm SSP cast burrs for espresso

I use these in my EK. Also have the HUs. Can attest good for both espresso and filter. Prefer cast for filter for sure (more sweet, less in your face random flavors that can be good or bad). Espresso they were both great

Kafatek Max vs. MC5

Flying toaster - I have the three you are cross shopping in my house right now (actually MC4 w/ Shurikone and MAX with SSP, but close). My recommendation is it depends what you want to use for. Get MC5 if you want espresso only. Easier pulls. Less finicky in terms of needing to get grind exactly rig...

9Barista Review

Headline / TLDR: Cool mechanical design; very small footprint; okay workflow for 1 shot if you're not in a rush; forget about multiple back-to-back shots; works well for light roasts; taste absolutely on par with "real" machines, which is to say great! I recently gave my Robot to a friend on semi-pe...

Upgrade Kafatek conical burrs - thoughts?

I have an MC4 and upgraded to the shurikones a few weeks ago. Install was easy. I'm not noticing any of the retention issues. Most noticeable difference is that grinding is noticeably slower. I'd say it takes roughly twice as long, maybe 75% more time. On taste, I have noticed an improvement in flav...

Olympia Cremina - Need portafilter gasket insertion tips

Thanks for the guidance everyone. Happy to report the situation has been resolved. It turns out that the original shower screen must have been a bit wider than spec, making it exceptionally hard to get the gasket in. I purchased a replacement shower screen, and it was relatively easy to insert the g...
