New Hologram formulation - not happy. How about you?

Thanks to all for your replies. I did notice that the new formulation is 65% Colombian. I've had some terrific Colombian coffees, but have not eve thought of them as suitable for espresso shots. Never got a reply to the voicemail I left for CCC customer service. I will try an email but I doubt that ...

New Hologram formulation - not happy. How about you?

I started pulling home shots on my isomac Tea many many years ago, and settled on Counter Culture's Aficionado blend as one that was remarkably consistent, and had a combination of chocolate fruit flavors that was quite pleasing to me. Eventually it was renamed as Rustico and I continue to enjoy it ...

Starbucks takes roasting to a new level

They claimed that Pike Place was a lighter roast when it was debuted yet it still tastes nearly as burnt to me as all their other coffees. If anyone can make a "light roast" taste burnt then Starbucks will figure out how to do it. That being said - I hope they actually make it light enough so that

Poor customer service or am I nitpicking?

One strike - of that nature - does not count. Just keep going there. You had the option of asking if you could hang inside until the official opening time and the barista had the option of pro-actively offering you that choice. Neither of you chose to do that but the whole incident seems minor in th...

What Delivery Times Do You Expect When Ordering Fresh Roasted Coffee Online?

You're welcome. I am very much liking Keith Hamrick's ({link}) all organic American Beauty and absolutely love Jason Haeger's ({link}) Black Torpedo. If you ping him directly Jason may be able to work out a deal for good pricing on 5 pound bags of Black Torpedo (not listed on the retail section of h...

Astoria's and Super Jolly's on Craigslist

PLEASE don't use UPS to ship gear like this. I would use FedEx ground either. Either box it incredibly well and ship by Greyhound Freight if they'll take a box that size and weight or better yet - strap it to a small pallet with plenty of padding around it and a double weight corrugated cover over a...

Astoria's and Super Jolly's on Craigslist

I had to add a 9" base cabinet into an existing space in order to create space for my water filtration and a counter above it for the grinder and knock box inset. (there was already a 10" space next to my gas range as it is a 30" unit and the previous homeowner had a 36" range with a

What Delivery Times Do You Expect When Ordering Fresh Roasted Coffee Online?

If ordering from a roaster that is no more a zone away from me - e.g. Chicago, the Carolinas or the Northeast, then I'll buy from people who use USPS or UPS - provided the shipping costs are not exorbitant. I try to place orders on a weekend so it will be roasted on Monday or Tuesday and arrive to

Grinder timer

I never integrated one but have used a Time-o-Lite M72 with a Super Jolly with great results. It is analogue but still accurate down to about .5 seconds (close enough for this sort of thing,) is physically much smaller than most Gra-lab models and is nearly bulletproof (i used to sell darkroom equip...

Pete Licata's USBC & WBC Espresso Blend

Mine took about six days to central NY state. Keep in mind that Rusty's is in a VERY isolated area. They are close to two hours by car from the Hilo or Kona airports and the pace of things there (including the postal service) is slower. There is no "warehousing" of roasted coffees - they roast in sm...
