Positive pressure, PID Pavoni: world domination begins

I recently started to think about this question, so I chopped the top off my machine and went open boiler. It works fine, but takes some fiddling of the lever to get the chamber full. If you want less than 10 seconds of pre-infusion, it wont work. But with the longer pre-infusion, it does seem to wo...

Robo-Pavoni; learning to make espresso machine from scratch

Robo-Pavoni; learning to make espresso machine from scratch

A quick reply: use two drills, one superfine from the bottom of the head, and the second 0.125 from the side. Hope they meet and drill carefully while paying attention to desired depth. The superfine hole should be outside the piston shroud, but inside the screen and o-ring. Once you see daylight, e...

Robo-Pavoni; learning to make espresso machine from scratch

{image} Here is the complete kit, fully working and tested. From the right: 1. Robo-Pavoni. This is a pavoni head bolted to a home-made copper boiler and brazed-steel frame. The head has been drilled to show piston pressure (dial). The boiler is insulated (kinda ugly, but not to me) with fiberglass ...

Home-made grinder

Arriflex: yes (belatedly), my screw is 250um/turn and works well. I would think 500um/turn would do as well. I never make adjustments less than 1/4 turn because its not necessary. raj

Zassenhaus Alignment and Lubrication

How about loosening the screws, tightening the adjustment mechanism until the burrs are firmly pressed together, and then tightening the screws. raj
