Cimbali Junior heating element in an M30 Bistro?

So... it's been more than a couple of days, but I've finally managed to get new gaskets for the boiler and grouphead. Machine is now descaled. One heating coil has been disabled making this a 1200 watt machine. Power cord has been chopped and changed to 15 amp standard. Last but not least, it's now ...

Cimbali Junior heating element in an M30 Bistro?

I've ordered some parts. Should have it descaled and back together in a couple of days. I'll report back and let you know if anything blows up when I plug it back in!

Cimbali Junior heating element in an M30 Bistro?

I have finally gotten a chance to test the resistance on my heating element. All seems in order. Eric, I'm getting readings pretty much spot on to the values you expected - about 20.5 to 20.8 for each element, 10.5ish if I bridge two elements. I'm now confident that if I put the machine back togethe...

Cimbali Junior heating element in an M30 Bistro?

This site is definitely one of the most helpful espresso boards out there! Thanks Ken, your photo is very encouraging. As you mentioned, very similar to mine. When I went looking online for replacement Junior elements they all seem to be 1300w. Yours is stamped 1200w. If my theory is right, mine mig...

Cimbali Junior heating element in an M30 Bistro?

Hi I recently picked up a Cimbali M30 Bistro. It was just too good a deal to pass up. The problem is I can't plug it in! It is a 110v 20 amp machine and I have only 15 amp circuits in my kitchen. Rewiring is not an option because I'm renting. So... after doing a bit of

Izzo Alex has gone cold...slowly!

I just got the new replacement relay from Chris's. Popped it open and took a look inside - everything looks just right. Stuck it in and I've now had the machine up and running for a couple of hours. Everything's back to normal! Boiler temp, autofill, reservoir... everything! Pulled some shots - I'm ...

Hmmm... I see what you mean about the cold solder joint from the old relay. Here's another view of the replacement one they sent. The first time I looked at it I just thought it was a bit messy in there, but now that you point it out, there are tiny balls of metal all over the place close to

Izzo Alex has gone cold...slowly!

Well I'm sitting around waiting for my new relay to show up and I'm finding myself bored. With all this talk about possible problems with my mechanical relay I decided to dig further into mine... well both of them - the one that was in the machine for over a year and the new one that is mysteriously...

Izzo Alex has gone cold...slowly!

Interim update... Very busy at work lately - been exchanging emails but haven't been able to call Chris Coffee and speak to service while at home in front of the Izzo - until today (took the afternoon off specifically to deal with this). Tim in the service department was kind enough to guide me thro...

I won't be home til this evening so I can't test anything right now. But as far as resistance on my meter - when the contacts are not touching anything I get a reading of 1, when connected together I get 0. Alex
