Open Source Lever Project

{link} (2 group machine for $450 CDN) Would be a perfect parts machine for this project - maybe someone else in the Vancouver area could pick it up? I'd do it but I have a backlog of machines to restore

Is there a 'best' home grinder?

Along the same vein (commerical conicals), I was surprised by how well my unmodded K10 works for single dosing. If I single dose and blow out the chute with a camera lens squeeze bulb (about 2-3 pumps), retention (beans in - grinds out) is below the resolution of my gram scale. That's good enough fo...

Huie-71 espresso grinders with 71mm Robur burrs

Sorry to have misinterpreted your impressions and put words in your mouth! My Chinese is rusty... Thanks for the English review - looks like an interesting grinder, especially for not much more than an HG one

The craziest %#*$ing thing I've seen all day...

While checking out the "Huie-71 grinder", I looked around in the Chinese coffee forums and it looks like some Chinese manufacturer has replicated the E61 grouphead...without the mushroom (and presumably without the gicleur and preinfusion valve). That got me interested and I started digging around -...

Blind basket/disc for 49mm portafilter. DIY suggestions?

If you can't source a high temp rubber sheet, something like this would work too: {link} It's made for 58mm, but you should be able to easily cut it down to size. I prefer these since I'm lazy and you can backflush without having to remove the basket
