Baratza Vario grind settings fluctuate
There is a newer version of the upper burr that Kyle sent to me for this problem. It didn't entirely fix the problem, but it made it better. However, if you have a newer grinder you already have this burr. A suggestion: From the coarse position, turn the grinder on and adjust to your last espresso

Baratza Vario made loud bang, no longer grinds
I've had this machine for several months. I have had some problems with wandering grind settings, and have been in contact with Kyle, off and on. I think my current problem is un-related, but I mention it anyway. Today, as I was grinding, the machine suddenly made a loud "bang". The coarse adjustmen...

Baratza Vario Problem with Press Pot
Right, but I'm not looking for perfection. I'm just trying to get a result that is comparable to the SJ. I'm very pleased that the Vario will do this for my espresso needs, and it seemed from the reading that I've done that it might do this. The only thing I can think to do at the

Baratza Vario Problem with Press Pot
I see a thread that ended about a month ago on this topic. I don't see anything in it that will help me with my problem. I have a new Vario. My other grinder is a SJ, which is my point of comparison. I do espresso and press pot daily, so I need a grinder that

Left coast coffee
I sent a comment on this topic, and it didn't show up. I'll try again: I don't think the original poster's political and ethnic comments are appropriate, but I have to say that I share his general impression on the coffee and service. My wife and I visited some old friends in Silicon Valley late las...

Baratza Vario
I currently use a 53mm tamper to prevent it on my SJ. Any reason why I couldn't do the same thing if I had the Vario? Bill K

Risk of leakage for plumbed-in espresso machines?
I know. You buy yours at the same place I buy mine, Home Depot. Frankly, I don't care if the braided riser tubes are approved by my local code or not - I use them. I remember the good old days of working with the plated, hard copper riser tubes, and they were terrible to install compared

Risk of leakage for plumbed-in espresso machines?
There is an attendant consideration with plumbed-in machines compared to pourover, and I think it is worth mentioning as part of any decision process. I have a concern with plumbed-in, rotary machines, which is the potential leakage of the typically used John Guest type plumbing we use. I use this t...

Vibe pump vs Rotary
I have had a couple of vibe pump machines and a couple of rotary pump machines. I have had one vibe pump fail and no rotary pumps fail. Both have generally been reliable. The difference in the perception of quality with the rotary, in terms of general feel and lack of noise, is enough to make

Best espresso machine for $1,000?
I had an Oscar that could make very good espresso and had excellent steam power. It was not completely reliable, but it was acceptable and I think it is a lot better now that they use the Sirai pressurestat. I upgraded mine to the Sirai. My son-in-law has the machine now, and it continues to churn out
