Breville Not Pulling Enough Espresso
The low yield volume tends to happen when the grind is too fine. Once the shot is way over the 30 second mark, the Breville will stop the shot after some time and leave you with a lower shot volume. If you grind coarser, the yield ratio will be closer to 1:2. In the settings

User Experience with the Strietman CT2
From an older Strietman's Facebook post: "WHAT'S NEW? The Brew Group: * With heating elements inside the group we found a way to make it more efficient and have gone from 750 watts to just 500 watts of energy consumption. * The CT2 incorporates a new stainless steel cylinder wall for durability and ...

3D Print of Drip Tray for 1st Gen La Pavoni, a better fit
An industrial printer wouldn't be that much faster. The printing time is just a limitation of the 3D printing technology that exists today. A milling machine will do it faster for sure, but at a cost. I highly recommend the Zortrax 3D printer if using 3Dhubs.com. Otherwise, Sculpteo of Shapeways off...

A morning with the Decent Espresso machines
I had guessed already why the hole was there for. It's just very unusual in industrial design to leave that kind of details exposed. Considering there were many more difficult issues to take care of in a design like this, it leaves any industrial designer wondering if there is a more technical reaso...

A morning with the Decent Espresso machines
A lot of thought has gone into designing this machine. Having that hole exposed is certainly unintended as there is no reason for it. At least the machine should ship with a plug to cover the hole. I think the black color on an espresso machine is a bit rare. I'm not saying it's uncommon though

A morning with the Decent Espresso machines
This it probably the only modern espresso machine on the market, and hopefully the start of a new generation of espresso machines for the 21st century. By modern I mean there is an implementation of software to control the hardware. I really don't know what modern device does not run some type of so...

LIDO E Handgrinder - Drag issues or not?
If you just tighten the collar, the burrs will most likely rub against each other. I have eliminated burr rub at any setting by doing the following: 1. Remove the catch jar. 2. Flip the Lido up-side-down. 3. Unscrew the tightening collar all the way. 4. Set you prefer grinder setting. 5. Start tight...

Grinder studies by Socratic Coffee
Whether this is a scientific method or not is irrelevant to appreciate the results. Some may feel that this study is not valid, and yet some will make conclusions about which coffee grinder is the "best" based on a grainy picture of ground coffee that somebody said is very "fluffy" and produces a "s...

Grinder studies by Socratic Coffee
They've never stated they were doing science or that they were scientists. Three of the are engineers and one is a coffee expert. They're certainly using a scientific method and tools to do the study. They did not, however, collected enough data to call the study "scientific". I don't think their in...
