(Ab)using the Europiccola to pull coffee instead of espresso

You can store coffee in your fridge to extend its life by quite a lot. For example, the oldest roasted coffee in my refrigerator is coming up to a year old. However, unlike storing in a deep freezer, the coffee will still age appreciably, just much slower than coffee stored at room temperature

With height information one can distinguish between the TiN coating coming off vs. a stain, buildup, or mould. Your pictures point to all of these possibilities
