Pourover brewer...I don't get it.

I've tried it in increments of 5 from 15 to 30 without much changing. I make espresso at the 7-10 range. I'm using water just off the boil. I haven't measured it, but I'm guessing that it's between 200 and 210. The coffee is neither bitter nor sour, so I think I'm in the zone. I

Pourover brewer...I don't get it.

It seems like it should be so simple, but I'm just not getting it. I normally drink Blackcat or Kid-O prepared on my Rocky/Silvia combo, but I thought I'd take a little foray into the world of drip coffee for a change of pace, and for convenience when we have company. Here's my story so far:

Good espresso in Phoenix area?

Just an update: I only made it to two of the places listed. Bunna Coffee - pretty lousy and starbucks-like. Coffee Shark was the other one, and it was really good. And, they have a drive-thru, which made it easy when my girls were sleeping in the car. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions

Good espresso in Phoenix area?

I should have posted this question sooner, but better late than never. Tomorrow I'm going to be in Phoenix for a little exploration - seeing if we want to move there, and I'm in need of a good coffee spot. We'll be staying in the Chandler, but we'll be exploring the suburbs and city for a

Adjusting Rancilio Silvia brew pressure (OPV)

I received my new PF pressure gauge today and checked the pressure on my (new-style) Silvia - looks like about 10 bar. I'd like to adjust the OPV down, but before I start screwing around with the internals, I'd like to hear from somone who's done it already. I took off the top cover to take a look

Hot Chocolate

I caught a few minutes of The Hungry Detective on Food Network the other night, and the guy was in a coffee shop/bakery, and it showed them making hot chocolate by loading some dark chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, and milk into a steaming pitcher and steaming on their espresso machine. They didn't...

So I went to Starbucks yesterday...

I can't top it, but I've had several similar experiences. A few weeks ago, I stopped at Starbucks in the local Target store (I was very desperate) and ordered a cappuccino. The nice young girl working behind the counter hit the "start" button on the super-auto machine and began steaming the milk to ...

Any reviews of Pod machines?

What about the new Silvia? It comes with the pod kit, and if he decides down the road to do the "real espresso" thing, he's already got a good machine

Starting espresso setting for Rancilio Rocky

Hi all: This is my first post here. I posted a question on coffeegeek a month or so ago about getting into espresso for under $500. I was enlightened by the responses there that my Cuisinart quasi-burr grinder wasn't going to cut it, so I increased my budget (read: sold my Fine Woodworking collectio...
