My own tests have shown that pulling a relatively hard vacuum e.g creating a brick of coffee, simply pulls the oils out of the bean structure earlier or brings them out when they wouldn't have come out..Neither is great for flavour. It's unavoidable really as you have a moving piece that has to have close tolerances and can move left and right slightly. It's another area worthy of lubrication to help reduce its effect.
