SEP for Cremina

Hi Hao Wu, Your flow is probably higher than the sample. Try to grind finer. What is your boiler pressure? Best! Gabor

End game grinder suggestion for La Marzocco Leva X setup

I got my Leva 1,5 years ago. I use it in our roastery and do events with it. The Acaia Orbit joined only a month ago and I enjoy this grinder the most so far. We have the EK, the Key mk1, the Eureka Atom, the Olympia Moca, and several manual coffee grinders (HG1, Mahlgut-1, a few Lidos, Kinus, and

User Experience with the Strietman CT2

We made a mini-batch of 4-5 handles for the CT1 4 years ago. I still have a few. I haven't placed them in the shop at all. We made that only because of SEP. I didn't think that there would be a demand for this kind of handle

User Experience with the Strietman CT2

1. As already mentioned you won't need 9 bar pressure for a great espresso 2. But if you insist... it doesn't need superhuman power to achieve 9 bar pressure with one hand but surely more comfortable/controlled if you do it with both hands (see video). {video}{image}

James Hoffmann (finally) 'gets' lever machines

Also very interesting is the difference between a fully filled boiler (700g water) and a boiler at the lower limit (400g). {image} The reference boiler temp/pressure profiles (grey) are the ones with the lower (400g) fill!!! The red/orange ones are with the boiler filled up to the upper limit (700g)...

James Hoffmann (finally) 'gets' lever machines

I did a measurement also as follows. 1. Started at room temp (21C / 69F). (time: 00:00) 2. I closed the steaming valve at the boiling point (06:15) 3. I switched off the second element at 0.3 bar and let the machine heat, no pulls were made (07:05) 4. The group reached temp 90C/194F in 10 minutes (1...

James Hoffmann (finally) 'gets' lever machines

We were surprised as we put sensors in our moka pot 9 years ago ("The secrets of the moka pot - How to video"). We did a SEP upgraded pot version for James for his moka pot videos 3 years ago. We learned a lot during the measurements. We did literally the same to the Faemina now. Put pressure and

James Hoffmann (finally) 'gets' lever machines

I missed the Meticulous Kickstarter campaign... I added some more telemetry to my Faemina instead. I hope I can make some measurements and take some videos later. {image}

James Hoffmann (finally) 'gets' lever machines

James asked me to hack his Faemina "aggressively" three years ago. But he wanted to clean and descale it first. One year later the box was still unopened. I offered to do also the cleaning/descaling part and got his Faemina 4 days later, man it was ugly! We discussed the modification via e-mail. It ...
