40-second rule
First I should qualify by saying that I load consecutive shots and prep baskets together on mornings when I'm using the same beans for both (or 3) shots in a row. When I switch beans I bump and sweep between. When I grind consecutive doses then it all collects in the doser and I weigh each

40-second rule
I tried to determine how long it takes to notice a difference. Other folks may have different experiences, but I personally could not taste the difference in a shot prepped 15 seconds prior to one prepped 15 minutes before. (In my "testing", I ground the coffee and also prepped the basket for waitin...

Lacking that syrupy thick mouthfeel - or am I expecting too much?
Your equipment and routine appear to be sound, what beans are you using? The beans are important (critical). The must be high quality, artisan roasted, and preferably roasted within the previous 2 weeks prior to brewing. If your beans aren't roast-dated then they are almost certainly far too old

HX espresso machine with recent low brew temperature issue
I'm thinking that steam is generally much more efficient at TRANSFERRING energy than non-moving liquid water. The boiler liquid water in contact with the HX probably doesn't move much compared to the steam in contact with the exposed part of the tube. For the liquid, the dominant mode of heat transf...

Mazzer Robur grinds retention
As one of the aforementioned nutjobs (possibly not quite so rare), I'm very pleased with my Robur. My Robur is a doser unit and is used single-dose style. I have *almost* unmeasurable grounds retention. Thanks for posting this my friend

Owner experience with HG one grinder
Wow, has it really been that long? Where does the time go...? FWIW, I agree 100%. There is no better tool for the job than a dissecting needle. I also have quite a cache of them leftover from distributions we've done in the past, so if anyone is interested or needs one then just contact me

Need help with leaking E61 after repair attempt
I suspect that there may be some scale or verdigris on the threads in the hole that is preventing the seal (having experienced a similar issue, once upon a time). If you haven't already, remove the fitting and closely inspect the threads on both the fitting and the group. If this is the case, you mi...

Still need to WDT?! I'm clearly missing something.
Using a Mazzer Robur w/doser, I may not "need" to WDT at all. But I still do it on every shot. It's been part of my routine for years now, and only requires a few seconds. For information: I single dose, often changing coffees during a session For WDT (or no WDT), I always use a

Faema Legend bendy drip tray
Hi Dennis, There's no clip missing, but I have the lower tray slipped under the support tabs on the drain side and resting on top of the support tabs on the opposite side so that it leans down towards the drain slightly. So mine might also flex as yours does when it changes temperature, but I don't ...
