Looking for someone to test some prototype gear
THe idea behind the tool was both to center the disk on the burr AND index the burr to the machined screw holes. What I am finding is that some of the screws have different sized heads and can be finicky. Working on tweaking the shape of the alignment tabs. If you merely want to clean the

Looking for someone to test some prototype gear
Every grinder is going to be a little different due to the standard of manufacture, but even so the tolerances will vary. I know that a lot of people struggle with K30's and its one of the best manufacturers around. Most manufacturers don't have a protocol to align burrs at all. The honing system do...

Looking for someone to test some prototype gear
Grinders are going to behave a little differently, one from another, but the principles are pretty much the same. The grey material on the honing disk is the high points of the metal being removed, but they are food safe and anything not on the disk will flush with the first run of coffee. I found t...

Looking for someone to test some prototype gear
I am getting preliminary feedback from a few others testing on other grinders like the K30, but they are still in process. The reports are similar with improved range and cleaner flavor profiles, but I am letting them come to their own conclusions and am encouraging them to share their results when ...

Looking for someone to test some prototype gear
I have to order more material to cut the honing disks, though have enough of the 30 and 12 micron sets. I was hoping a two step process might be sufficient, though a three step: 40, 30 and 12 micron series might be where we are at. I don't have any burrs left in stop, but can get

Looking for someone to test some prototype gear
Sorry, this was for Craig in Ottawa, meant to message directly. I can send the tool and honing disks for you to try on the Rossi mills, enough to see how it does on the old mills as well as polishing the fresh set. I assume they are 64's, Simonelli made an MD grinder with 60's

Looking for someone to test some prototype gear
You may be right for many of this general purpose burrs. They seem designed to crush more to achieve much longer life spans. There are some 100mm-140mm burrs that have a more espresso oriented final cutting surface. The burrs from Sitting that they used to resharpen fit this category while the other...

Looking for someone to test some prototype gear
Send over your contact info, I think I have another K30 set for you to test with and I just finished the tool (3D printed). Let me cut some more honing disks. The test results would be really helpful. I was able to run some runout tests with a mazzer, which actually weren't too bad

Looking for someone to test some prototype gear
There is a way to do it with conical mills, but it more involved and can't use the honing disks, so I didn't apply for a patent on that. Think about lapping a valve seat with paste
