Olympia Cremina rebuild
Very nice work and great work on the hand polish. Reminded me quite a bit of my rust bucket before I started on it. Glad to see another one back in action

Cremina dispersion screen falling off... solved.
Before I started using non-food grade to the group internals, I would ensure that you were doing regular maintenance and cleaning on the machine. Both the Olympia and the Pavonis have a habit of unscrewing the piston over time. On the Olympia it will kick the screen off and on the Pavonis the piston

Olympia Cremina - how hard should it be to move the lever when cold?
I think the original question was resistance with a cold machine. If you open up the boiler cap then you should have minimal resistance to lift the handle....if you have water in the boiler there will be minor resistance as water is pumped into the grouphead. If the boiler is empty then mine moves

Olympia Cremina - how hard should it be to move the lever when cold?

If you have resistance, could be anything from gaskets to grooved handle pins, to damaged piston sleeve (ask me how I know)...May be worth cleaning the grouphea...

I finally did it - bought an Olympia Cremina off ebay!
If it is a used machine,... off Ebay... and I don't know the history of the machine, then I would always plan to do a thorough cleaning and put on a new set of gaskets. Regular maintenance is rarely done on a home machine and getting a fresh start will keep you from chasing gremlins down

I finally did it - bought an Olympia Cremina off ebay!
For machine parts the advice I give is the same I use for old cars. If you want it to perform to factory spec, then use factory parts whenever you can...especially on critical components. The factory gasket kit is very good and meet all tolerances and specifications that the original engineers inten...

Tamper size for pre Millenium Europiccola?
For a pre-Millinium it should work fine. If you go to the FAQ and Favorites in this forum, you will see that I wrote a thread on Elektra/Pavoni side by side....Give you a good view of the basket and the size difference. It worked fine for me. With regards to
