Used Hottop, is it worth it?

Also take a look at the front plate where the drum rides. This is a typical wear part. If it looks like the drum has elongated the bearing indent, replace the plate

Used Hottop, is it worth it?

From what I recall, the chassis base plate gets replaced. This would be similar to replacing the frame on a car. Everything off. Everything back on. Not difficult. Just time

Used Hottop, is it worth it?

Get it and use it until the control panel fails. That is the weakest point in the roaster. At that time you can upgrade to the latest (2k+). This is a decent model. I bought an old B model and went through all the mods. Worked great for 4 years until the panel completely failed so I tore

First roaster purchase. Hottop 8828-P or other roaster

Hottop, hands down. Even the, less desirable, P model. MAKE SURE the one you get is a "K" model with a thermocouple NOT the older type with a thermal-stat. The thermocouple module can easily be changed to the manual B model by replacing only the control panel. Pic of the 2 types for your reference.

If you have 8% humidity storage and are buying current harvest and only keeping them 3-6 months before rotating them out..... you have the best case scenario. Your beans will not be exposed to excessive moisture while waiting to roast. Your beans will only be there a short time before being roasted....

Bought a roaster... help before I fire it up...

Yes, you can always sell it once you no longer need it but it will improve your roasting greatly to log and see what is happening. Start looking, you should be able to find a new one within $10-15 of that used one on eBay. You don't have to use an Amprobe. There are a number of
