Profitec Pro 800 / CMA group channeling from sleeve inlet holes?

I can attest that it's easy to remove. I've done it at least half a dozen times in my trouble shooting. It's also reasonably easy to remove the group sleeve (the one with the four inlet holes) if you use a bit of care. I've found over the last few days that the divots/channeling have effectively dis...

Profitec Pro 800 / CMA group channeling from sleeve inlet holes?

I'm starting to think this is the answer. I've been pulling the lever quite slowly to the point where the water just starts flowing, based on what the HB Pro 800 review mentions in the "pre-wetting" section. It seems that on my machine at least, if I do this slow water release to pre-wet, the water ...

Profitec Pro 800 / CMA group channeling from sleeve inlet holes?

Thanks Paul. I tried a few more extractions today and it seems that if I pull the handle a bit quicker (not dwelling at the point where water just starts to flow), that seems to reduce the divots. Maybe my learned muscle memory is just leading me to repeatedly hold the lever at an inopportune spot? ...

Profitec Pro 800 / CMA group channeling from sleeve inlet holes?

No noticable difference between first and subsequent shots, but then my workflow isn't lightning fast either. I've tried with boiler pressure dropped down to 118C but no lower. Thanks for the info. Group operation is reasonably quiet, and I've removed and replaced the inner sleeve to make sure the h...

Profitec Pro 800 / CMA group channeling from sleeve inlet holes?

That sounded like a really good idea so I tried it! It was pretty easy to gently remove the sleeve using an old tamper base, a bit of wood and a clamp. I rotated the sleeve so that the holes were aligned in an X formation with the boiler inlet in between two holes. Opening the valve while

Profitec Pro 800 / CMA group channeling from sleeve inlet holes?

One more video of interest: {link} This is how the water would actually meet the puck, through the shower screen. I've got the cafelat IMS screen on for this one. It seems to me that there are at least a couple of jets of steam on this video. I can see two, which correspond to the hole

Profitec Pro 800 / CMA group channeling from sleeve inlet holes?

So a bit more playing around. Here are a couple of photos of the piston seals, just to confirm that they're the right way around: {image} {image} Next a couple of photos down the sleeve with the piston and shower screen removed. 4 inlet holes visible: {image} {image} And now a a couple of videos

Profitec Pro 800 / CMA group channeling from sleeve inlet holes?

I tried a few things this morning, but first an answer to a couple of questions: - Using reservoir, not plumbed. - 58.6mm tamper Tamping harder seems to lessen the divots (as you'd expect). I tried smaller baskets and less headspace didn't affect things. I took a slow motion video with the shower sc...

Profitec Pro 800 / CMA group channeling from sleeve inlet holes?

Good suggestion, though my first preference is to understand the cause of my problem rather than do a 'hack' without understanding what I'm actually fixing (if that makes sense?) I guess there's some sort of operator error, given that the group itself is pretty simple. I'm going play around some mor...

Profitec Pro 800 / CMA group channeling from sleeve inlet holes?

Stock gasket. I have noticed that there is less headspace than with my old Rocket e61. eg using 18g VST basket I can't put in an 18g dose on the Pro 800 or it will touch the showerscreen. I need to use ~17g. I've tried with stock double, VST 18g and Pesado 18, 19 and 20g baskets. The photos
