First crack temperature reading too high...
Good advice thanks. But I tried this some time ago already, and touching the connections at the print plate doesn't seem to do anything. Only when I move the wires there is a change in the readings. (Or now most recent: when i hold the BT wire - its the only one connected right now - to the quest bo...

First crack temperature reading too high...
Follow up on this topic: I'm roasting again and wanted to solve this problem. The Quest has now moved and the probe wires run differently. Apparently this caused 1C temperature to drop back to normal. However, when I move something, the temp readings jump up and down, which is very inconvenient. I n...

Active roaster cool down?
I use a Quest M3 for roasting and I wonder if when you finish a roast, do you just unplug it or let the fan run till the roaster cooled down to a certain temperature? just wondering if this can help prolong the longevity of the Quest... Thanks! (Maybe this is answered already, but I couldn't find any

Local shop selling 2 used Mazzer grinders - good buy?
I would buy. Mazzers are quality built, maybe you have to change the burrs, maybe not. Keep one for yourself and sell the other. Good luck!

Boiler insulation with adhesive
Good ideas! I like to insulate my boiler, but prefer to keep it cheap Thanks to all the input I've come to these materials: {link} An aluminium silicate blanket from aliexpress. and: {link} A ceramic fiber blanket from amazon. A bit more expensive, but it also offers more material... Any thoughts?

Boiler insulation with adhesive
Thanks for the feedback! So no on the adhesive part. And good experiences with the armaflex HT. I'm interested in the melamine and foil method: But how does that work? I thought melamine is used for cabinets and stuff... Does it have insulating properties?

Boiler insulation with adhesive
I would like to insulate the boiler of my Strega and was thinking of 13mm or 19mm Armaflex HT. This is some sort of foam/rubber insulation capable of high temp. I see that there is a version where the insulation sheet has an adhesive side . At first I thought this was a no go, but now I'm thinking the

How to: MET probe on Quest
Good question and I'm probably not best suited to answer it... But it's just another parameter from which you can deduct where you are in the roasting process. Personally I don't find much use for it, but I understand that more experienced roasters find it handy and use it to see where the roast is ...

How to: MET probe on Quest
Sorry for the late reply! EricS doesn't sell probes anymore so you'll have to look elsewhere anyway. The one I use works fine. You'll have to use a bit of aluminium foil to let it have a tight fit. My roasting is a bit on a hiatus (only temporary! ) so I don't have much experience with this
