Coffee travel options
I have been using the LIdo ET for about 1 week now on a trip. I am very happy with the results thus far. We finally have good coffee on vacation. Just a few comments about the unit: It is not small, but compact enough for travel. It takes a little bit of effort to grind enough

Coffee travel options
Thanks everyone for the quick responses. I hate how many options there are. I wish there was something everyone said "Buy X and Y." Since we usually drink cappuccinos and not espressos I think the french press option will likely be best at least currently. Now I need to decide which hand grinder to ...

Coffee travel options
advice for coffee on the go. My wife and I travel regularly and almost always are disappointed on the coffee we purchase. Generally we drink cappuccinos at home. Currently we use the K30 and an ECM Synchronika. Personally I think our drinks are better than 99% of what we buy from coffee shops. I tho...

Descaling is this really a no-no?
You are the second person to mention this mushroom. Is it the large bolt on top of the E61 group head? I googled and found this video: {video}

BWT water pitcher
Nice, thanks for the link. it doesn't give Mg++ levels, but does show water hardness so not sure exactly what that means. Is that the Ca++ level? Good luck with your plumbed in solution and please share your results once achieved

BWT water pitcher
I am thinking maybe the right solution is this BWT pitcher adding in about 1/4 solution tap water which is a bit over 100ppm Calcium and probably a little alkaline. What do you think? Since I already have your ear, what test strips are you using that gives pH, Ca2+, and Mg2+ levels

BWT water pitcher
Renegade, that almost seams like fear mongering to say that my machine will die within 6 months. So if a drip filter like a BWT that removes all calcium is not the right solution, then what are you recommending ? Even a plumbed in unit uses a filter of some sort. For example BWT makes a plumbed in u...

Descaling is this really a no-no?
I have, but if I do that, why not just get the BWT pitcher that I think will work way better since everything must pass through this filter as apposed to the BTW in tank sponge looking thing. Plus I can keep a full either next to the espresso machine and have a very quick and easy refill whenever I

BWT water pitcher
I make americanos about 3 times a week. You think that is enough draining of the steam boiler or should I go a step further?
