i rejiggered the thermostat a little bit. swapped in a piece of copper in place of the stainless that the thermostat was zip tied to. seems to have done the trick. i see a 20 degree temp drop from water to thermostat but it still puts it within range of the temp adjustment. tomorrow i start

they stink to high heaven lol. maybe squeezing the handles together will do the trick. on mine ive gotten everything apart but a bit clumsily because its hard to hold onto the stupid things

you could try a strap wrench ({link}) and leave the wire alone. the larger of the two looks about right. good luck

few pics of the boiler apart. the pump was a bit stuck but after turning it with a wrench it turns by hand now. i think it may be usable as-is. any advice on how to clean it out? can i run some dilute citric acid through it? {image} {image} {image}
