Thanks for the suggestions. I have been wanting to try Royal and look forward to roasting for taste and personal pleasure. I certainly appreciate their documentation of the offerings

How much slower will coffee age if in near vacuum sealed bag?

From other feedback, I'd been given to understand frozen roasted degraded very quickly upon defrosting. I take it you're removing the day's weight and keeping the rest in a given bag as frozen as is practical? Also, if I understand you, you favor the flavor of beans that have been frozen very early ...

How much slower will coffee age if in near vacuum sealed bag?

There is another approach worth considering in the future; individual measures of brew amounts sealed in glass bottles with only enough room for the charge. Since they are only opened on brew day the oxygen degradation of the roast is minimized. If you can, establishing a vacuum in the bottles would...

Second grinder or one for all

In my experience, it is very nice to have grinders set up for their daily use. Always changing one, even if it is capable of reproducing exact results immediately upon adjustment seems ...frustrating. If you happen to be serving a diverse group, all the more so. In my example, I have an early HG-1 f...

Decent DE1Pro as first espresso machine

Most Excellent! I meant no disrespect to the Country of India nor the region you live in. As I infer, where I live in the Atlanta area of Georgia, there are occasional power distribution switches that are not accurately synchronous and demonstrate short voltage sags, rarely brown downs. I've placed ...

Help with different Lavazza whole beans types?

Hi Wantboost, I've often thought about that too. I've been averse to getting beans that have any robusta content, so I limited my choices in the Lavazza products to those which are 100% arabica. (I don't respond well to the caffeine profile in robusta for some reason. YMMV) I very much liked Lavazza...

Decent DE1Pro as first espresso machine

Thanks, Jeff, good to hear. I just really sweat ...capacitors... If I'm not planning to be able to troubleshoot down to the board level, I tend to buy insurance! I have the Honda EU3ki genset; phenomenal equipment. Highly recommended

Does tamping make much difference?

We all want the fine, almost fluffy, grind of the coffee bean as it falls from our grinders into the basket. Once in the basket, science indicates an even distribution of the grounds with an even density before tamping is desired. Given that is achieved things get a bit more interesting. If you have...

Decent DE1Pro as first espresso machine

I don't know the specifics of your electrical utilities in the region you're living in. But, even with my "1st world" power and the incredible up-time the local/regional power companies here - I absolutely have my espresso machine behind at least a surge choke (protector). With the computer onboard ...

Brewing method that is close to my Americano

Maybe I'm getting old or something, but I've been surprised how much I like 10 minutes steeped 'french press' in an ESPRO pot. Tastes fairly similar to what I make when I do two shots and add hot water; double, or more, to the weight of my espresso in the cup. If you haven't tried it recently, might...
