Mypressi TWIST vs. Handpresso?

I chose handpresso over mypressi a couple years ago due to replacing/refill cartridge and its footprint. Although I will agree that getting the same consistency was annoying. Also, the non-standard size basket makes tamping interesting at first. So I stopped using it for some time. When I came back ...

Owner experience with LIDO cupping coffee grinder by Orphan Espresso

I hear people talking about burrs needing a break-in period. I thought mine is pretty broken in, but I realized I don't know what that means or how to measure such things. Can anyone share their experience with how it works for steel burrs? My LIDO Burrs From the last cleaning. First pic from a prev...

Owner experience with LIDO cupping coffee grinder by Orphan Espresso

Thanks josh! i read that post a long time ago, when i was considering LIDO for purchase. Totally forgotten. This is why this forum is awesome because of people like you and others who helped me make my coffee better. Report: The grind was inconsistent to the eye and the cup. The cup and grind are bo...

Owner experience with LIDO cupping coffee grinder by Orphan Espresso

Has anyone experienced change in zero after taking only the inner burr/axel out for cleaning? I decided to clean because: -grind was inconsistent but axel/alignment seem and feel exactly the same before cleaning -was going to take it all apart, but it seemed unnecessary halfway thru disassembly. Aft...

Owner experience with LIDO cupping coffee grinder by Orphan Espresso

1) & 2) I kind of have a similar thing, but at larger setting on my LIDO. May need an alignment again. although I love my 3.75 coarse setting for press. I put some oily beans at one point, and it all went away. 3) it happened to me also. I thought it was strange and the thr alignment

Owner experience with LIDO cupping coffee grinder by Orphan Espresso

Thanks everyone! I went to 3.75 CCW and got the flavor I want back this morning! My tight point is almost .5 from 0. I did see some inconsistency in the ground, so I may take it apart one day and do a deep cleaning and readjust. I don't think it changed since last alignment, 0

28g coffee with 16oz of water for my French press. It could just be me and my own alignment of LIDO, but I found my LIDO setting at 4 CCW (while thinking it was 3), dialed it back to 3, lost all the cocoa flavor in my Java Sunda pitaloka and had more resistance pressing. Back to 3.5 today

Owner experience with LIDO cupping coffee grinder by Orphan Espresso

For those who have aligned their LIDO... I may have accidentally but surprisingly super-aligned my LIDO. (not bragging, just want to know if its achievable) I decided to clean it before I show my friend tomorrow, and figured i would align it better than 25% rub at zero (and accepting that some rub i...

Help! hot air popper timing shortening, even in cold weather

I modded my poppery 1 with extra fan power cord and did a couple roasts today. With the wet processed Ethiopian illubador beans, I wasn't getting 1C before. Now I am able to control the drying phase, lengthening the time by shutting off/unplugging heat source (still runs hot air through with just th...

Owner experience with LIDO cupping coffee grinder by Orphan Espresso

Steve, that's what I did! After alignment, I try to give it a vertical shake rather than thumping on the side of the burr. Followed by a few light puffs of air blown by myself over the sink. I was very fastidious with aligning, but I got about a quarter turn rubbing at zero (.25 turn). Doug's video ...
