Light Roasts on the Bullet R1
Hey all, recently took the plunge and upgraded big time from years of air popper roasting to the bullet. I wanted to share one of my first successes. So far I've used this profile on two coffees with great results, though they are very sweet they could use a touch more acidity. 300g batches "Etiopia...

A Place To Share Artisan Logs
Hey all, I am currently a student learning web-based development and as an avid coffee roaster and long time home barista, I've been thinking of ways to merge these passions. I am working on building an open-source website that would be all about sharing roast logs. Once a new user signs up they can...

Fresh Roast SR800 - 1/2 lb Air Roaster
Currently the thermocouple is going in through the top and into the bean mass. Naturally it bounces around which leads to inconsistent and varying readings. With my proposed plan the thermocouple would be places just underneath the bean mass and should give an accurate representation of the temperat...

Fresh Roast SR800 - 1/2 lb Air Roaster
Good evening all. Has anyone successfully disassembled the sr800? I am looking to remove the top black collar piece. This would allow a small hole to be drilled and a thermocouple inserted right above the 'grate' on the main body and before the 'grate' on the glass cylinder. Does anyone have experie...

High grounds stick to V60 walls
Its very recipe dependent. Ive also noticed more stuck grounds at coarser grinds. I believe the main contributor would be the pour speed/agitation. Ideally you would pour gently not disturbing the bed, and leaving the grounds there. Obviously coffee will bloom and at some point in the pour levels wi...

Cannot diagnose channeling problem - need help
The way in which the basket appears to be saturating in a line, starting from the handle, through the center and out is very odd. How does the shower screen look, with the portafilter off and the lever pulled to dispense water. Does it seem to be flowing evenly across the screen? Have you removed th...

Fresh Roast SR800 - 1/2 lb Air Roaster
For reference I've been using this recipe as a starting point. Using the 9.5in chamber, all temps noted are from the sr800's built in display and 150g of a Guatemalan coffee. Planning to upgrade to using artisan and a thermocouple here shortly. I typically roast to city - full city with development ...

Breaking rules on water/coffee ratio
Each brewing method is going to require a different ratio. Typically an immersion brew will favor a ratio similar to what you have found. The higher ratio in my experience makes more sense with a clean filter brew. Personally I prefer between 15:1 and 16.6:1 using the Kalita 155 and the Origami drip...

Niche Zero grinder
I pulled the trigger ordering the Niche from their indigogo site and have been extremely happy. Its easily gone back and from from espresso grind to pour over at both my 15gram and 30gram recipes. Grind retention has typically been 0.1 - 0.2 grams which I'm very pleased with. {image}

Hand grinder for pourover
The Helor 101 worked very well for me for the few years of use. It will grind down to espresso for you as well and stay super consistent. Excellent grinder though I recently upgraded to the Niche Zero
