Draining Vibiemme DoubleDomo for Moving
Just an update (in case anyone else is ever in my shoes and needs to drain this model): the WLL video is good, but probably not sufficient. The Vibiemme has a 1L+ steam boiler (as I recall), and pulling water through the hot water wand pulled about 0.5L, but didn't drain it completely. I opted to op...

Draining Vibiemme DoubleDomo for Moving
My wife and I are moving in a few weeks (to Toronto), and most of our possessions, including our espresso machine (the Vibiemme DoubleDomo that we bought in 2012) are going to be transported by a moving company. Given the time of year, I'd expect freezing temperatures in the back of a moving truck, ...

What grinders have you owned or tried?
2005-2006: Built-in grinder on Estro Profi (tiny little flat burr) - for what it was? Totally OK. 2006-2008: Gaggia MDF - significant step up, bought it as a set with my little Gaggia machine 2008-2012: Mazzer Mini - *huge* step up from the Gaggia 2012-2013: Fiorenzato F64 (?) - bought it when I bou...

[SOLD] Macap MXK
Didn't wind up trading this Macap last month, but found and bought the grinder I wanted, so this one needs to find a new home. It's a Macap MXK, so it's a 63mm conical grinder. Smallest of the Titan Grinder Project conical grinders. I've had this grinder since 2013, and it's seen about 100-120 lbs w...

[FOUND] Macap MXK for Mazzer Mini / Super Jolly
I'd like to trade my Macap MXK (63 mm conical) for a Mazzer Mini or Super Jolly. I'm only interested in grinders with dosers (what can I say, I don't enjoy using doserless grinders). A few things: I've swapped the original, gigantic hopper for Baratza's new hopper, which fits nearly perfectly (and m...

Vibiemme tripping surge protector
I've got a Vibiemme DoubleDomo that's developed an incredibly weird symptom in the last week or so: it's been tripping the surge protector it's on when the steam boiler is heating up. I've got the machine on a timer so that the brew boiler and brewpath can get good and hot before I need them, and th...

Smaller hopper for Macap MXK?
The magic answer, in case anyone else needs to do this, is to order the Baratza Forte hopper, file down one of the tabs on the outer diameter of the hopper throat, and it'll fit perfectly in the MXK's throat. It's a tight tension fit, but that's not a bad thing. The grinder goes from somewhere north...

Smaller hopper for Macap MXK?
Quick measurement of the bottom of the stock hopper shows a diameter of about 2.65" There is a substantial (~1cm) lip inside the throat (didn't measure that, as it's full of coffee right now) where the hopper bottoms out
