Slayer Single Group Maintenance

Dear Community, some time has passed since I did my last post on HB - I went through a lot of machines until I finally arrived at a one-group Slayer that has been upgraded by Frank. Not much inside, just the shot timer on top of the brew group. I have bought the one-group Slayer in May 2018 and

Sant' Eustachio Il Caffè

We have tried to rebuild that 'crema' and what comes close is cold (brew) coffee mixed up with icing sugar, you'll need to incorporate a lot of air

Warning: Chloride & sulfate levels with weak acid cation softeners (e.g., Everpure Claris)

Thanks Nicholas, very interesting statement from Everpure. I'll setup the alternative filtration system and will check how that impacts the pH-level. I've looked a different types of RO-systems and the compact/ small systems usually don't deliver the required outlet pressure (around 2.5 bar) for the...

Warning: Chloride & sulfate levels with weak acid cation softeners (e.g., Everpure Claris)

I had three different sources to end up with setting number 3: a) the values that are reported by the waterworks, b) a water analysis by lab that I had initiated some time ago and c) testing KH and GH with the droplet test at home. I believe that the alkalinity values are okay after filtration, as m...

Warning: Chloride & sulfate levels with weak acid cation softeners (e.g., Everpure Claris)

The setting on the Claris system is 3. I'll get a new Hanna instrument tomorrow and will run the alkalinity test in due course. Most likely, I'll switch to a system of a German company called BWT ({link}). This system is recommended by the German Synesso distributor

Warning: Chloride & sulfate levels with weak acid cation softeners (e.g., Everpure Claris)

Did just a quick pH-Test and it is obvious, Claris is reducing the pH-value quite significantly. The blue cuvette is unfiltered (around 7.0) and the yellow/green is after Claris filtration (below 6.0). The Chloride level is below the recommended limit (63 vs. 80), but it seems that the effect is hap...

Warning: Chloride & sulfate levels with weak acid cation softeners (e.g., Everpure Claris)

I am using the Everpure Claris solution for approx. 1.5 years and came across this thread. In my region of Germany, Sulfat level is at 80 and Chloride at 63, both values are below the limits. However, while descaling my GS3 a couple of years ago, I have experienced what could happen to stainless ste...
