Are Happy Mug coffees really freshly roasted?

I usually buy from Red Bird or a local roaster. Recently I heard about Happy Mug and tried them. I haven't been able to get a nice shot of espresso from their beans, had to grind super fine compared to 6 weeks old Red Bird beans, and the shots lack crema. Compared to Red Bird beans, the

Crossland CC1 steam valve rebuild kit?

v2 steam valve's shape is definitely an advantage. I'm not sure how to grab a hold of the round steam valve in my v1 to unscrew it. The shape change is probably why V2 steam seal in the rebuild kit won't fit earlier machines

Crossland CC1 steam valve rebuild kit?

Guess there aren't many CC1 users left on this forum. Pantechnicon advised to reach out directly to Bill Crossland for instructions, and so I did. Bill said this is the correct rebuild kit, and the components in the kit comprise of (vendor's website doesn't explain what's included): 2 EA O-Rings for...

About the general built quality of "affordable" espresso machines for home espresso?

An espresso machine works with water at above boiling temperature under high pressure. The water and steam are kept in check by various tubes, seals, gaskets, etc, that naturally deteriorate over time. Something is bound to break, and regular maintenance/repair is required, whether the machine is me...

Does it make sense to buy a used Rancilio Silvia?

You bring up a good point, and I actually never really looked into lever machines with a boiler. Something like this: {link} Is the main difference between 8 cup and 16 cup models boiler size? My wife complained about Crossland CC1's size and ugliness, La Pavoni looks great and doesn't take up too m...

Does it make sense to buy a used Rancilio Silvia?

Ah, these Robot or Flair level espresso makers are fascinating, they are great options for someone exploring espresso as a hobby like you said. That's not really my goal tho. I've already done my exploration and to be honest, I don't really care for espresso shots, especially stressing over brew rat...

Rancilio Silvia Milk Drink Workflow

It depends on the location of the hot water outlet. If it's near the top of the boiler, the boiler will be full

Rancilio Silvia Milk Drink Workflow

Wouldn't it be faster to steam first since you can help cool down the machine by opening the steam valve and run the pump until hot water comes out? This is what WLL recommends: {link}
