Light Roasts - Are they losing their luster?
From a drinking perspective, I generally prefer medium to dark roasts. And I wish more "third wave" cafes would offer coffee made with something other than light to medium light roasts. Those of us who prefer coffee to have a medium to full body with roasty flavors like nuttiness, brown sugar, choco...

Roaster that makes a Viennese-style coffee bean
Doing a little reading and compiling the common themes, it seems like the coffee is a med to med-dark roast, with emphasis on nutty, chocolate, caramelized sugars with a medium body. Maybe Halfwit Moonbat or Intelligentsia Frequency?

Roaster that makes a Viennese-style coffee bean
Having not tried it myself, I'm at a loss to help my friend find beans like this for his mom. She misses the coffee in Vienna. Do any good roasters make a good coffee bean that is similar to Viennese-style coffee? Your advice is appreciated!

Kruve coffee sifting for drip/pourover
I just got mine in, secondhand from a member. Brewed a drip at work with a metal mesh filter, 600um and 1000um sieves. It does make a positive difference in the taste, with myself and a friend tasting. I also now realize the amount of fines my Baratza Virtuoso produces, which were likely contributin...

So my Baratza Sette 270 just died... after 18 months!
Sorry to hear. I've got a Baratza Virtuoso at work that's used several times a week for nearly 10 years and never had any problems. Just a casual glance at Amazon reviews for various Baratza grinders, the Sette 270 has pretty much the lowest reviews, with a lot of the negative ones saying their grin...

America's Test Kitchen Equipment Review: The Best Coffee Grinder and Our Testing Winners
For America's Test Kitchen, it's not super surprising. I think the most expensive thing I've ever seen on any of their reviews over the years was the Vitamix blender and the Kitchenaid stand mixer. But yeah, they could've also tested a more premium yet "affordable" grinder like the Baratza Vario

America's Test Kitchen Equipment Review: The Best Coffee Grinder and Our Testing Winners
Post for some discussion fun. It doesn't include the super expensive powerhouses but does include the more affordable home grinders. Baratza won. {video}

Lelit Bianca User Experience
Also great that it has a 58mm basket. My Lelit TQE used 57mm baskets, which limited the fun accessories I could use
