Power consumption info on espresso machines?
My CC1 (~1100W, .5l insulated boiler, pid) uses < .5kwh per 16 hours on, making about 6 doubles without steaming). This is over the last month. It's plugged into a Seasonic kill-a-watt type device and never unplugged. I do power the machine off for 8 hrs. a night. The PID has adjustable settings tha...

How low can TDS of water be to extract properly?
Interesting discussion. I will be doing some informal extraction and taste tests varying TDS from pure to ~100. The mix to the RO pure will come from city water Ca/Mg filtered through a brita (which), but can also come from salt induced whole house ion exchange softener (currently loaded with sodium...

Descaling still necessary if using pre-filter water?
Global Water (or something like that) did acquire Cirqua's assets, but it's not clear if they will be reselling the same things. That said, Cirqua was already packaging other's solutions (e.g. RO device is a Nimbus 800). I'd recommend to get a TDS meter, hardness strips, and ph strips to test your w...

The finer ground coffee the better for espresso?
I do something similar, but use about a ~14g double in double basket and 60-75ml yield (top of crema) Other things often debated are whether to time from pump on, or first drop. Also range is often 20-35 seconds depending on many things for best taste. If pre-infusing with a dwell time, subtract the...

Baratza Preciso grind setting for espresso
Thanks Pat, that is a wealth of great info. on those links. So far I have just been removing the parts straight up and off to clean, then reassembling in reverse order and everything is working well. But I will keep these links for future reference. I am wondering if it is possible that some Preciso...

Baratza Preciso grind setting for espresso
I love my Preciso. Have been using it for nearly 6 months for espresso. Mostly on about 10 using the micro adjust to consistently get 2.5 oz doubles in ~30 seconds on the Crossland CC1. I'm surprised to see some folks in this thread going down to 3/4, that would choke almost any machine I have (6 or...

Baratza Vario + Crossland CC1 = perfect shot
very nice videos! I can't wait to get a naked PF for my CC1. I use a Preciso grinder, and mostly have been using 3 seconds pre-infuse, 2 seconds dwell, and a 30-35 second pull for a double, with a dosage of my own blend at about 22g. for a ~ 3.5oz double

Quick look at Breville Dual Boiler Espresso Machine
Well the early testers on some other forums had slow steaming, and were told by Breville that a fix would be made in the US production machines. I do not have any confirmation if the ones at Williams Sonoma have a) the OPV fix, or b) the slow steaming fix. I know that others sold in the USA
