Bezzera Strega acting up
Ok, I've checked, not jamming. This switch engages and disengages correctly, sending water to the cylinder. The problem occurs when it needs to refill the boiler, once it starts, it does not turn off and water leaks through the cylinder (replacement of piston lip seals is on order). But I'm wonderin...

Bezzera Strega acting up
Thanks DanoM. I've checked the manual and there is a lip seal part #749101. According to the manual, I need 3 right ? Another problem...that fact that the pump does not turn off once it starts filling the boiler could be due to the leak through the seals ? or perhaps I have a faulty max level probe

Bezzera Strega acting up
Hi Folks, I own a Bezzera Strega (version TOP, not plumbed) which was bought back in 2012. I've used mineral water for most of the time, average 25.18 mg/L Calcium, 4.44 mg/L magnesium, 122.83 mg/L bicarbonate. I've decalcified it once in 2013 only. My use has been fairly regular, with two shots a d...

Switched to lighter roast, now Baratza Vario won't grind fine enough
I'm having this same issue as well. When I use darker roast, such as some italian canned coffee (miscela d'oro) it grinds just fine. When I switch to some lighter Intelligentsia SO it's a chore...it seems my Vario can't hold the calibration under the harder beans. I've gone through several rounds of...

Owner experience with Bezzera Strega
My flush routine is no flush at all. I've been alternating between Black Cat, Intelligentsia Organic and some melanges from local roasters in Québec city. Gui

How To Determine Brew Pressure From Flow Rate??
That's because it was never my intention to say "you cannot, go buy a pressure gauge". If that was my intention, I wouldn't even bother posting. Gui

How To Determine Brew Pressure From Flow Rate??
The pump chart shows how much energy the pump can deliver to the fluid (pressure energy) for a range of flows. As you can see, the pump can operate over a range different flows, but for each flow rate, it can deliver a specific amount of energy (pressure). To know at which flow rate the pump will op...

Owner experience with Bezzera Strega
In my experience, the SO I've tried did better at lower doses with the Strega. Perhaps those are brighter ones, I don't know. I've tried with Finca Malacara and Nyarusiza Rwanda, starting at my usual 14g dose, and could only balance the acid at around 11-12g + grinding a bit finer. It was all fine a...

Owner experience with Bezzera Strega
I've got a microfine basket: {link} And it somewhat helped me "tame" the Strega's mighty punch (more consistency in the extraction flow). I would also consider a bottomless portafilter, unless you are willing to cut open the ones that come with the machine. The Strega's pf is a bit taller than the c...
