Sediment in the espresso cup using a Brikka?

A few days ago I purchased a Brikka and followed the break-in instructions exactly. Since then, I've had 4-5 shots of quite good espresso with decent crema (for a stove-top). However, I have sediment in the bottom of the cup each time. Any suggestion? A coarser grind? Also, any hints as to a pouring...

Super-Automatic vs Automatic vs Semi

Dare I use the term "fully-automatic" here? Is it a sin or cheating to go this route? I have a Presso manual and am considering a La Pavoni Europiccola. However.....I have been reading about the Saeco Incanto S-Class Sirius. Any opinions on this machine? Some say a fully-automated machine doesn't pr...

Upgrade from Presso Manual to La Pavoni Europiccola?

I've been continuing to research the grinders and machines. So far I do like the Rocky grinder. Being as I usually only do 2-3 cups of espresso a day, I figured the doser-less model is probably fine. I did just come across the La Pavoni Regulator grinder. Would you rate the L.Pav grinder better than...

Upgrade from Presso Manual to La Pavoni Europiccola?

Sorry for the delay.....work and more work. So, I tried your method Henry for the Presso. I felt more resistance, but still no great crema. The flavour is really quite good, and maybe I should just be happy with that. I alternate using the Presso for my Americanos and a 2C Vev Vigano Kontessa for my

Upgrade from Presso Manual to La Pavoni Europiccola?

Wow.....thanks for your help guys......I'm already getting some great helpful information. I am interested in getting my hands on the Bialetti Brikko....at the very least it's the handiest to take hiking and camping. So I'll check into that one. As for my Presso method, I proceed as follows: boil fi...

Upgrade from Presso Manual to La Pavoni Europiccola?

No worries Mo! I was never offended. Life's too short to think you can't always learn something new. I bought what was the highest end grinder in the store in town. I see now that there is great science behind the grinder. I will continue to research. I did however, think that I would

Upgrade from Presso Manual to La Pavoni Europiccola?

Really? A better grinder upgrade? This K.Aid is solid steel and glass (not one piece of plastic), burr grinder with 15+ grind settings. I didn't think I was going cheap with it at $180. I did buy some espresso beans at a coffee shop today and had them grind it for stovetop espresso use

Upgrade from Presso Manual to La Pavoni Europiccola?

Help! I currently have a Presso Manual machine. The one with two side handle levers where you pour the boiling water in top, pull up and press down. It works...okay. However, I never get really good, thick crema. I use the KitchenAid coffee mill/grinder at the finest setting. It's the vintage replica
