Metropolis Redline is a bright coffee with little/no chocolate or sweetness?
Metropolis has been one of my staples for the last 2 years. I have found it to be consistently excellent and easy to modulate to one's taste preferences if you follow the recommendations from the 2011 Favorite Espresso Blends review. (not too hot or too long an extraction) I have brewed 8 lbs over t...

No heat in Expobar Brewtus steam boiler
Problem solved. Upon further review the limit stat was tripped despite appearances to the contrary. Not sure why this happened. Boiler contained appropriate water level. I visually inspected the coil with a flexible fiberoptic scope inserted through the water level sensor port and it appears intact....

No heat in Expobar Brewtus steam boiler
My Brewtus 2 steam boiler stopped heating while idling yesterday following morning espresso and latte routine. Steam boiler heating indicator bulb doesn't light. Performed well after PID upgrade and new pressure stat install 1 week ago. No tripped hi limit stat. Can anyone suggest a protocol to isol...

Klatch Belle problems
I received a very concerned and nicely detailed email from Mike Perry at Klatch regarding my issues with Belle. He found no defects with the individual bean components or the blend on his end. One point he brought up was the possible effects of heat on the shipment. There was a extensive heat wave d...

Klatch Belle problems
I appreciate everyones comments. I normally expect some variations in natural products but I've been utterly spoiled by the extraordinary consistency from this roaster through the years. I was taken off guard and a bit stunned. My morning routine had been simple and flawless. I was not equipped to f...

Klatch Belle problems
I've been a fan of Klatch Belle for many years. This has always been an easy to dial in adult hot chocolate/ caramel latte treat for my family. Recent shipments however have been an entirely different experience. The roast appears darker and more oily and I am finding a new funky bitter aftertaste t...

Doserless conversion Wega rebranded Compak K10 WIP
My Wega 6.8A is also just a bit louder than my SJ and Mazzer Mini e. More noticeable when empty. They are all leagues quieter than my Cimbali Max

Compak K10 zero point
Dan, I appreciate the info. The Mazzer spring system explains the reduced play compared to the Compak. In the cup, I continue to be astounded by the Compak. NO sink shots since dialing in the initial range. Each blend revisited is a new experience. While they last, the Wega 6.8A

Compak K10 zero point
Allen screw wobble aside, I believe that the grind adjustment carrier on the 2 units I used has more vertical play than other grinders I've used and is more difficult to find the soft zero point. The lock down screw helps this a bit

Compak K10 zero point
No extra lube noted. I removed the doser and attached a doserless spout and am utilizing a gralab timer to modulate dosing. The spout pulls off easily to make chute cleaning a breeze. The autofill/fingerguard was removed. The chute is also easily cleaned with a vacuum hose connected directly to the ...
