Last post: just have to say it.
i've been on this site for about a year and i have learned quite a bit. however, it is by far one of the most self-absorbed, OCD-riddled and least friendly places i have ever encountered on the net. i'd venture to say this community as a whole has done more to increase my distaste for coffee culture...

Any "must taste" cafe in New York City?
sadly, the trip is done. culture was on the list, but never made it there. have heard a lot about ace/stumptown -- both reserved for next trip out. the espresso at knave was _very_ good on one of the days i went

Any "must taste" cafe in New York City?

La Marzocco GS/3 MP on the way!
enjoy! malkoenig makes some terrific grinders as well as compak. my current gs3 pairing is a (love it or hate it) m3. i love it but others don't. imo, quality matching conical to gs3 is not easy or cheap and what's right for a shop is not necessarily right for a home setting. personal preferences va...

Cleaning regime too extreme?
what feels like mind-numbingly intricate process to the beginner may well be basic procedural instinct to the highly experienced. moreover, experience helps you select and keep the parts of protocol that you feel may matter the most. maybe that's what ultimately comprises individual "style", which i...

Problem getting started with La Marzocco GS/3 MP!
i'm 2 months late to this party, but i second Marshall's suggestion. had the pleasure of getting a guy named Joe Marrocco from our local Kaldi's to my house for a private training session (i paid him, of course). it was one of the most valuable experiences in my coffee life. going to cuppings also h...

Problem with my new La Marzocco GS/3
I was mistaken. The detergent that came in the box is their own, made by Puro Caff. On the back, it says "add up to 1/2 teaspoon (3g) of Puro Caff powder..." {image}
