Advice for 1 group dual-boiler
BDL, Thank you for the extremely informative and valuable post. A local roaster and espresso repair here in the Pittsburgh area had some 110v HX machines either refurbished or as extras from catering. I believe he had available a NS Appia, a Cimbali M21, and a Conti something or other. I will have t...

Advice for 1 group dual-boiler

Does the forum prefer to stick with folks who are home enthusiasts only? Had seem to have gotten a lot of responses somewhat quickly at first. If that is the case, would it be better suited for me to post over at coffeegeek?

The machine will be for home use. I do plan on attaining a barista position as soon as someone gives me the thumbs up. Have been interviewing at some of the higher end cafes here in the Burgh but haven't landed anything yet. I'm starting to now push for some of the lesser quality-focused cafes just to

I plan on experimenting with dosages, S/D/T baskets, grind settings, and whatever else I can modify to see how they affect ta...

Advice for 1 group dual-boiler
I have read about using flushing to get to the desired temperature. Do you find it "easy" to get the desired temperature repeatedly via flushing while using a HX? How does temperature stability during the pull compare between the HX and double-boiler?

Advice for 1 group dual-boiler
Oh I know what is out there, and it's not pretty. Pittsburgh does have about 8 quality cafes which I am so thankful for. There is a range of espresso blends and SO's being pulled from Intelligentsia, Counter Culture, Olympia, Verve, and a local roaster named Commonplace Coffee who seem to be coming ...
