When people say "sweet espresso", does it actually have sweetness?

The OP referenced his bitter cappa's also. When milk is steamed properly it tastes almost saccarine to the point that adding sweetener will bring it over the top as far as being unbearably sweet. The ability to get your milk to consistently taste like this is arguably easier than getting your shots ...

Quick look at Breville Dual Boiler Espresso Machine

The most interesting aspect of the BDB(?) to me is the PID controlled SS group. I know you were pounding out shots on that thing, but it would be interesting to test its walk-up-and-shoot performance

Looking for conical, doserless and flexible grinder

In a typical dose from my K10 there are a few clumps and it is the doser that breaks them. Wondering why you would associate doserless (and presumably a timer/or eyeballing volumetrically?) with consistency? You may be very disappointed with the efficacy of this criteria... EDIT: Must be losing it, ...

Minneapolis coffee scene: getting better all the time

Yes, admittedly, and perhaps embarrassingly, my experience is limited to the oft discussed places. If you have any suggestions for some overlooked/off-the-beaten-path places I'd love to hear them and check them out

Minneapolis coffee scene: getting better all the time

Yes, of course, I was being flippant and generalizing, I apologize. But I also can't imagine Middlecamp or Kopplin being sweet talked into Synessos

Minneapolis coffee scene: getting better all the time

Yeah, been going by John's advice, but I'm damn near choking the machine at 12g's and still mouth puckering. I'll have to give updosing a shot, I mean try, in the morn. Would you say you're running your machine hot? Been sticking at around 200, as the guy there guessed that was what the Aurellia was...

Minneapolis coffee scene: getting better all the time

Ha! Sorry, nothing wrong with La Cimbali equipment! Yes, this is what I meant: Yeah, LC is usually carried by the regional restaurant equipment suppliers and tends to wind up in the small breakfast cafes/bakeries who want to add espresso but can't afford the Franke

Minneapolis coffee scene: getting better all the time

Just a little advice: With few exceptions, Synesso's are the de-facto stamp of approval for cafe's capable of good coffee around here. If you see any La Cimbali equipment, turn around and walk out. Oh, and bring warm clothes

Minneapolis coffee scene: getting better all the time

Hi John, Do you remember how you were preparing this? Was driving by there yesterday so I stopped and picked up a couple pounds. I'm finding I have little skill in dialing in these relatively acidic coffees, and it's been a mouth puckering morning
