Temperature on Silvia not high enough.

Dan / Barry, Thanks guys... Good call on the technique - I'll give it a go and see if it gives me a more accurate result! Barry, I take it you just leave the reading bit of the therm sticking out the side of the cup, so you can read off the temp while the water enters the

Temperature on Silvia not high enough.

Hi all, Apologies in advance for 'another Silvia question'... I wonder if anyone can help me with this. I tried the obvious searching through the mass of Silvia related problems, but could not find anything the same. In short, when I run the temp cycle up to its max, then take a reading of the water

Rancilio Rocky - Burrs wont touch.

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can shed any light on a problem I'm having with the Rancilio Rocky? I took the thing apart today to give it a good clean before I started using it for espresso again. Once cleaned I tried screwing the top burr back on again, but found that I cannot screw it

La Spaziale S1 Mini OR ??

BDL, Thanks for the notes. Appreciated, direct and useful. I hear what your saying about price Vs quality. I'm keen to stick to what I think is reasonable for a mid level machine ($2500). I'm leaning towards the Izzo Alex Duetto at the moment, as it offers what appears to be a solid mix of

La Spaziale S1 Mini OR ??

Hi Jeff, I get your point. However, I've read a lot of posts on here already (including a fair few of the links you posted) and have not managed to come up with a decision so far. To answer your main question: My goal to upgrade is to gain increased consistency in shots by means of

La Spaziale S1 Mini OR ??

Hi folks, Looking for a bit of help on what machine to go for... I own a Silvia Mk11 which I like (and Rocky), but have never got over the hassle of temp surfing and irregular shots. I've thought about a PID, but I think I'd rather go down the road of a machine with a bit

Bitter espresso & grind issues with Rancilio Silvia & Rocky - help!

Hi Louis, Just to check I get you right... I've unscrewed the 3 screws inside the hopper, then removed the hopper itself. Then which screw are you referring to when you say 'Blocking Screw' ?? And what do you mean by "remove it, then put it back" ...? Just want to
