I don't understand the 14g dose in pavonis.
I say dont argue with good results. Grind/tamp/temp/pressure in the right combination combined with a coffee that you like. I think the 14gr thing is just a starting point for the LaPav size basket. Not set in stone. So are you just filling the basket and striking it level, then tamping?

How can one tell if a Faemina was originally 220v or 110v?
When its filled up hook it up thru an amp meter (using 110volts) and I would imagine the machine is in the 1000 to 1500 watt range. If its a 110v model you will read that many watts, if its a 220 model the wattage will be considerably less. If you

Weird eBay auctions???
When the auction was running the sellers had 100% good feedback, but it was all for odd things like stuffed animals or womens clothing, and all from the Philippines. I also sent a question to the seller of the LaPavoni to see if I could pick it up and pay cash, no response

Weird eBay auctions???

Problems disassembling an old microcimbali....
Can you see anything thru the viewing window, perhaps with the spring compressed? It would be nice if you could see some threads on the inside or even get some penetrating oil on the inside thru one of the ports or thru the window somehow. BTW, nice job on the wrench

Problems disassembling an old microcimbali....
Sean I also believe that piece would need to unscrew, now what direction is a mystery but hopefully standard counter clockwise (anti-clockwise) Seems like a special wrench may be your best option, something that would engage the slots for the portafilter. That, some diligent soaking and perhaps a li...

Weird eBay auctions???
Just an update of sorts, I sent notice to EBAY about the auctions while they were running and never heard a peep one way or another, what a shame. I also noticed the buyer of the first item, the Quickmill, has left some feedback for the seller,,,, to quote. Hopefully they will be

Can any spices be pre- blended into espresso grind?
+1 on the Mypressi, you can do a lot of interesting things from using other liquids, (seems like I heard of guys experimenting with different alcoholic beverages) to adding about anything in the basket, without worry of a backflush or any other problems
