Best grinder under $2000?
In defense of Clive: I was in the market for a particular Titan Macap before Clive sold them, but wanting to support my local vendor, i asked them if they could use one of their connections to source the grinder and sell it to me, applying their usual margin. Instead of trying to redirect me to a di...

La Marzocco GS3 vs Slayer One Group
Back to the selection of the espresso machine, there may be factors that constrain your candidates beyond price, aesthetics, features or preference. Some otherwise wonderful machines may require 220V or more amps than your circuit can supply. The single-group Slayer must be plumbed in - if that's no...

How fast are La Marzocco GS/3 temperature adjustments?
I do the same thing changing temperatures, often running one coffee at 195F and the next shot with a different bean at, say, 201. With the GS/3 on a 20A circuit, I get an increase of about 5 degrees F per minute, so it's pretty quick. But going down takes longer - about a minute per degree, since this

La Marzocco GS3: switch steam wand location to right?
Maybe it's just the challenge - like a project to turn a refrigerator inside-out. Or maybe with the steam wand out of the way, there'd be room to mount a Princess Phone - very convenient

La Marzocco Strada MP style mod for GS/3 MP
Absolutely: great baristas can find ways to coax good espresso from almost any machine, but no amount of mano or technique can improve a bad grinder

La Marzocco Strada MP style mod for GS/3 MP
After an initial year with the stock GS/3 and the last two years after its modification, I would not want to go back. And if I had a new GS/3, I would do the modification again before plugging it in or pulling a first shot. My principal reasons are the already well-covered advantages of flow control...

Jamaican Blue Mountain, what's going on?
The old wine truism must certainly apply here too. "There are no great coffees - only great cups of coffee."

Steaming Milk with La Marzocco GS3
I've used the Foam Knife 1 for about three years on the GS/3 and can offer a few comments. * First - I'm referring to the Sproline "Foam Knife 1" - there have been other models, but the "1" seems to be the only version to be very well received. If I recall correctly, an entirely different version

ZPM Nocturn Espresso Machine
In round numbers, any project that's 2x off its cost objective and 3x-4x off its schedule - and still not deliverable - can fairly be termed a "fiasco." The remaining credibility comes from ZPM's continued commitment that the machine actually will be delivered someday to the largely patient and supp...

Grinder adjustments help! - Dose vs. Grind
It sure seems odd that the relatively small grinder adjustment - one just enough to compensate for any normal batch/batch, humidity or breaking-in etc. change - would cause such an immediate and dramatic change by itself. I think most people would guess that the new bag was actually much more differ...
