Ronco, the distributor for the Behmor 1600 home roaster, filed under Chapter 11 yesterday (6/15/07) in Bankruptcy Court. Ron Popeil is still owed a great deal of money under the terms of his buyout.

Ronco says it will continue operations and is not laying off any staff. However, it is actively seeking a buyer or alternative financing. I do not know how this will affect plans for the Behmor rollout, but assume Joe Behm will have something to say about it.

Wow, that really stinks. I've been following the progress on the Behmor on CG for quite sometime now. Hopefully it will still roll out because it looks to be a pretty promising and very affordable home roaster from the features that i saw.

That's really too bad.
That roaster looked like the roaster of roasters for the home user.

It's premature to count them out. I have no idea what affect this will have, but Ronco is certainly still in business.

Joe has said that the reorganization will actually benefit the roaster. Ed

...but wait, there's more!
I'm waiting for Ron Popeil to say that as he bundles more goodies with the roaster on his infomercial.
Boy, I can really use the spray-on hair for my head right about now along with that roaster.
Bring it on Behmor!
Throw in some vacuum sealing containers for the roasted beans and a Ronco Scoopinator and we're set...

...(I made up the Scoopinator part so you guys saw it first here on H-B)

The Behmor 1600 will still be available, I'm sure. Hopefully we can see some "demos" of it on TV.

Personally, I can see myself sending the $350 or so to get the unit, if for nothing else than to simplify my roasting routine into one box. But like others I'll be carefully reading the reviews first.

I just wanted to toss this out. I posted this over on CG also. I currently have on testing loan one of the pre-production models of the Behmor 1600 and have been test driving about a week.

With bean weight, 5 profiles and length of time adjustments (the profile length changes if you change in initial length of roast as it is based on % not minutes) there are a LOT of permutations to test out, but if people have some specific questions they want answered now that one is available to test, please ask them.
