Hi all,

Anybody know if there are any 3rd party options for replacement pistons for Ergo-Packers? I am currently using the OEM 58mm piston and find that there is more of a gap around the edges than I'd like.

I don't know of third party options, but I bet making a piston is easy work for a machinist (if you keep it simple). Lino of bottomless portafilter fame is HB's resident expert on the subject.

The first thing I'd check is if the thread is compatible with any other tampers out there, such as Espresso Parts or Reg Barber, then see if the size you want is available from that source. That will certainly be the most economical.

I can make a piston for you, without the text, but unfortunately, it would cost significantly more than the tamper did. In stainless, around $60. I wish it were less, but this is where economies of scale play hardball.
