By reading this form, I've seen Intelligensia / ECCO are great roasters, but what about roasters local to Denver, Colorado and the Front Range? The only one I'm aware of is Allegro which some local shops swear by.

Allegro didn't impress me much. I may end up getting the ECCO beans, but the shipping costs are prohibitive.

I'm with you here. Interested to see any other responses. There is Cafe Richesse up here in Fort Collins. Many of the local diners and bagel shops serve their coffee. I haven't had the chance to try anything freshly roasted though. I have tried some of their roasts for French Press, which is great. I bought their espresso roast beans once from a kitchen shop downtown, and it was stale; couldn't get a reliable pour.

In Denver, Pablo's on E. 6th Ave. and Kaladi Bros., on E. Evans near DU both roast their own. Never been to Pablo's, but it has a good reputation. I lived near Kaladi brothers for a number of years and used to buy my beans there and was always pleased.

After I moved to Boulder, I started buy my beans from Cafe Solo and was always happy with their espresso blend. They have a few shops in the Boulder area and roast their own.

Then I stared roasting my own.

I have tried Allegro many times also. It is not bad, but it is not to my taste for straight espresso or a milk drink smaller than 5 oz.

Novo Coffee out of Denver does a fantastic job of sourcing and roasting. They offer phenominal coffees with most being single estate. When I get their coffee, it is usually for press pot brewing.

Ink Coffee (Aspen / Denver) has a couple of good espresso blends/roasts - there is a shop in Colorado Springs which uses it. When done right , it makes a great straight or macchiato drink.

However, the consistency and quality from Ecco, Stumptown, and Counter Culture in regards to what I prefer for espresso keeps me mail ordering.

I will second the recommendation for Novo, a friend of mine was in Denver recently and brought me back some of their Ethiopian Ababa Abeda, it was excellent.

A vote for Pablos...

I live in Cherry Creek and go to Pablos every Tuesday...it's $2 off per pound on Tuesdays. They roast Monday and Tuesday right there in the same room. $5 per 1/2 pound of their espresso, includes tax. Get a punch card and every 6th pound is FREE. Good stuff. Like it very much. Their Yemen is great too.
Thanks, Beavis
