I use the Harbor Freight scale mentioned above to weigh my shots and use an Escali scale to do less precise measurements (splitting a new batch into smaller "chunks" prior to freezing some of it, etc)...

The Harbor Freight scale has an upper limit of 500g so I do not use it to weigh the P/F with filter basket in place, etc. I just put the basket on the scale, tare and then dose into said basket... Others do it differently, but this seems to work for me!

Hi Folks, FWW. YMMV
I use the Harbor Freight and usually it is less than US $10 when on sale about once a month. I can use it with my smaller pfs. It is a nice size for baskets and fits really nice on the PF rest of the Mazzer.
Cheers
Richard

For a few more bucks The Acculab PP-201 is my favorite at $38.00+shipping. Besides being accurate, it is very small and It comes with a 100 gram calibration weight, which none of the others offer.

Suggestion for a good 0.1g scale?

Link to "Recommended inexpensive scale for weighing coffee?"by Ducatista on Sat Jun 14, 2008 1:17 pm

Hi

I am looking for some suggestions for a good 0.1g. Would be nice if it had the feature that permits convenient zeroing out for the weight of either a ramekin or the portafilter itself.

Anybody find a suitable scale on Amazon for example?

Thanks in advance.

Ducatista, I merged your question with a thread on the same subject. There are lots of choices; the key deciding factors for me were the auto-shutoff period (preferably one minute or more; many turn off after 30 seconds), battery type, and convenience. Most of the time I'm using one with a backlit display that uses lithium batteries. They need replacing once or twice a year versus my backup that lasts a year or two because it has no backlighting. On the other hand, I like the touchscreen display.
