Ah, yes, the spider silk for tensile strength. Few realize the risks espressme encounters on these projects.

9/16ths. I must convert to metric since my brain prefers integers where possible.*
14.28mm tapped to M12x1.75 ?

Ever tried alabaster?

Regards
Timo

*I had some Sigma gaskets made recently by a master-distributor for Flexitallic (it cost little more than buying the sheets and cutting the gaskets myself, which I've never done--I saved on shipping because they're only 5 minutes away). I sent them the following spec:

O.D. 155mm
I.D. 120mm

They confirmed with:

O.D. 6.102"
I.D. 4.725"

It is like dealing with Grainger- everytime I have gone to them to source something with a metric measurement- they just look at me funny and say "sorry"

OK, Imagine the final scenes of Apocalypse Now..... the song playing is "The End", by the Doors. Morrison is wailing and Sheen is just now realizing how far he has come since the opening scene under the fan waiting for his next gig.
That is a little how I feel- but really it has been a good hands on experience. Any one out there should never be afraid with such a great resource as the participants on this site.

So as I bolted on the bodies and was getting them up out of the shop where they have lived for 7 months, I felt impulsive. I could be considered a unorthodox heretic with the badges- but I moved them. I always felt robbed a little that a favorite part of the Cremina is the little OLY guy dashing with his cup of coffee -- IS ON THE BACK-! Where no one can see him! I know he is there- but - Hey , you do with your badge what you want to do. I pleased myself on these 2.

Color for the '85 matches the body that I took off my Bezzera! So I have a matched set. 8) They are very close to the orange that Richards Cremina is- except that they are a subtle metallic. So it does have some sparkle- I tell you this only because it is next to impossible to get a clear shot that does the color justice. The '81 is gloss black- I had to tip my hat to Mr. Robinson here- it is too classic a color. They did a nice job- I am very pleased. Smooth ...... and shiny!

Nuff said- this is the end of the trip - they are done- One small note- I did drive to Eugene Oregon today and stopped by Stefano' Espresso repair. On line you can find them at- espressocare.com- A great, GREAT guy! Stefano is from Milan and while I was chatting with him as he was preparing to go on a service call at his shop- he offered to fire up his Vibiemme, and pulled me a nice shot. Thanks again Stefano. A knowledgeable resource for us all, who is a member here as well. He carries parts for home lever machines like Gaggia , La Pavoni And Microcasa. I recommend you put his link in your favorites..

Any way I picked up some double Microcasa A leva baskets to outfit the twins so that each has a single and a big double !

Thats all, here are some parting shots-

Greg,

You've joined the ranks of karl with the two-group BezzeraOlympia FamilyCremia. I'm afraid you've got to get new handles turned for the Bezzera now. Its really a splendid pair,

Thanks - all- I did forget , there will be one more post- I just got my confirmation that my custom tamper from Espressme will be here soon..... matching of course. Kind of nice that the Bezzera are both 49mm :D The new "Hammer" will do double duty!

I was going to post something about nice balls, lever pulling and real wood but then I realised how old I am

It all looks beautiful Greg, and that copper/bronze flam colour looks like the finish on my maximatic - if it is then the finish is even better than the photos!

I thought I would be able to give a few really nice shots of the tamper that Richard did for me to compete the set- Alas- the wife dropped the good digital camera at an event for the daughter-!Q!@#$$ ;>) Hi Honey , if you are reading..... So I will just be able to show you the one or two pictures Richard took of the hammer before he sent it to me - appropriately it arrived today on my 50th birthday- Nice touch and good timing Richard..! Thanks a lot.

Here is the base with a couple of tamps that Espressme has made for other folks
Image

So adio's- Here is the tamper, all finished up, resting on Richards Cremina-It weighs in at 12 3/8 oz / 354 gm! The handle is made of the same turned African ebony and a solid bronze base with a American curve face- about 49.6mm------------ it fits like a glove should! Every shot I pull on either the Bezzera Club or the Cremina requires no inside basket-edge cleaning after tamping. The tamper fits so nice and tight that its is nothing but clean sides above the puck after polishing! What will I do with all that saved time? Hammer time is good!

.. saying goodbye.. It has been a fun thread....Good pulls to all..

Original chrome vs. nickel plating.

I just got an e-mail from the guy who bought my '88 Cremina. He tells me the nickel plating is beginning to flake around the grouphead. I called High Lustre and told them to change my order on the other Cremina from nickel plating to polish only.
